  • How to schedule a road test appointment – You can schedule it with our driving school for the fee or call/go online DMV.NY.Gov. You will need to have your Learner’s Permit number and a 5hour pre-licensing course certificate number or Driver’s Ed certificate of completion number in order to schedule a road test. Locations vary

  • Our preferred road test locations:
  • Bronx: Havemeyer Ave (Between Randall and Cincinnatus Ave)
  • Bronx: Strang Ave (Between E 233 street and Baychester Ave)
  • Queens: Astoria (Between 20th Ave and 24th Street)
  • Queens: Laurelton (Between 220th Street and Francis Lewis Blvd)
    (PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MAY NOT PRACTICE AROUND OR AT THE ROAD TEST AREA UNLESS YOU ARE ON THE ROAD TEST, IT IS A VIOLATION)
  • How to re-schedule or cancel a road test appointment – If you scheduled your appointment with DMV, you have to call them/go online and cancel/reschedule your appointment. If you scheduled your road test with school, you need to contact school for that. Request has to be made 24 hours before the road test or DMV will mark your appointment as failed road test. Two failed road test require a $10 penalty fee in order to book a road test appointment for the third time
  • 5 hour pre-licensing course – is a mandatory class certificate, required to schedule and pass your road test. Pre-licensing course is a one-time class, consists of 5 hours of instructing on rules and regulations for safety on the road.   • Car rental for the road test – In order to pass the road test you need to bring a car to the road test, which has to be driven by somebody with a valid driver’s license. Vehicle has to be 4-doors, clean, without damage and non-commercial or oversized. DMV prefers  dual brake vehicles, which can be rented from the driving school. If you rent a car from driving school, driving school instructor will accompany you to the road test and will bring you back
  • Types of packages – our school offers two types of packages: Driving lessons packages – normally purchased by students who have driver’s license and need more lessons, special lessons or refreshing lessons while having long breaks in driving. This type of package also might be obtained by students who are willing to schedule road test appointments and bring own car to the road test
    Road test packages – include number of driving lessons purchased plus road test appointment made by school on your behalf, car rental for the road test and pre-licensing course certification
  • Foreign Licenses – you may drive in NYS if foreign license is valid and translated into English. If you become a NYS resident you have to apply for NYS license and surrender your foreign license and it will be destroyed by DMV unless you provide written request to hold your foreign license on file with DMV
  • Driving License for Tourist/Student Visa – you may be eligible to obtain a driver’s license in NYS. Call or visit DMV office to see if you can qualify
  • Out of State Licenses – If you’re new to the state and you have a learner’s permit from your previous state, it will not transfer to New York.  You must apply for a NY learner’s permit following the same steps as in the video above. In addition, if you’re under 16 years old, you are not allowed to drive in New York under any circumstances
  • Change of Address/Name/ License lost or stolen: go to DMV online or office and submit a request
  • License Renewal – DMV send a notice 45 days prior expiration. You must follow mail instructions or visit DMV office to renew your license. You may renew your license up to one year before its expiration. Vision test has to be submitted
  • License have been revoked or suspended
  • Alcohol and Drug Violation – 90 days, 6 months, 1 year
  • Chemical Test Refusal – 1 year, 1.5 years
  • Speeding and other – 6 months
  • No insurance – 1 year
  • Fail to file accident/pay child support/satisfy court judgement
  • Best procedure is to follow DMV notices and follow the requirements. You have to wait until suspension period is over and re-apply with DMV when they approve
  • Defensive Driving Course – Point Reduction/6-hour Course – You can take the course online. After completion you will receive a certificate which will allow you to reduce up to 4 points and reduce a car insurance rate up to 10%
